Burnished Sandblasted Stainless Steel

Context

Replacing the ground-floor window frames, which were severely affected by oxidation from the salty environment, high tide, and wear from the heavy influx of guests at one of the largest hotels in Venice. All the existing window frames in the building were made of brass. Therefore, it was crucial to ensure quality, durability, and match the aesthetics and finish to the pre-existing context.

Solution

The chosen material was our unique burnished stainless steel finish. After taking detailed measurements of the existing frames on-site, in our workshop, we created the new window frames using profiles and accessories from Secco Sistemi. We enhanced them with additional handcrafted elements such as the upper arches and custom-made side covers. Each piece underwent a sandblasting and burnishing treatment, which gave the surface a matte finish, with color tones ranging from sandy hues to light brown, all without the use of any paint. We achieved our goals both functionally and technically, giving the stainless steel a warm, elegant and luxurious color that, while being the ideal material for this cotext, would have appeared too cold in its natural state.
